Community outreach

Led by our Social Ministry and Evangelism & Outreach Ministry teams, the congregation of First Lutheran Church actively participates in studying societal issues within our world and addressing and supporting the needs of our local and global communities, including the broader missions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

This outreach includes serving the spiritual, nutritional, and physical needs of people in our community and around the world. It also addresses root causes for inequities and injustices within our world and works toward healing.

Members of all ages are encourage and guided to regularly support our mission of Sharing Christ's Love - whenever and wherever we are needed.

If you are an organization and/or an individual looking for funds to help people in need locally or globally, please complete and submit either the Mission Endowment or the Social Ministry application for funds.

We encourage you to check this page and the monthly Chimes to find opportunities to get involved and make a difference together.

support a mission

Social Ministry reaches out to the spiritual, nutritional and physical needs of persons in our community and the world.

Join us in support of our local and global communities by selecting from an active mission, and contributing what you can.

The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is collecting pasta sauce, brownie and cake mixes, cereal, pudding, Jello, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner,  laundry detergent and cleaners. Donations may be left in the basket by the church office.

A note of thanks

Thank you for the donation to help support Sol's Legacy Ministries' Community Outreach Program. Through this program we take our miniature horses to public events to bless children (and even adults) in our community. Many enjoy the contact with one of God's amazing creatures. Many children feel peace when petting or brushing these patient horses. It is empowering to children when they lead Shammi or Misty and they follow obediently. They open a door for us to speak with people about our mighty God and sometimes leads to us being able to pray with them. Thank you for making our community outreach possible in 2025!
